Can a Permanently Disabled Veteran collect any Social Security Benefits ?

I was hospitalized at a Military Hospital in 1979, and was subsequently given an Honorable Discharge. The VA granted me a Service Connected Disability at 100% which was deemed as Permanent 100% in 1989.

I am now 58 years old and with all the rising costs of living, the VA Disability Income is not meeting all my living expenses. Is a person in this situation qualified to receive any Social Security Benefits ?
